Call Me Crazy… Maybe ♥

After making two gospel bracelets this morning, I thought of something crazy… maybe beautifully crazy though ☺

Combining the suggestion of our photographer friend Michael Mariano, on how we can display our wedding pictures in our home, and the surfboard ref magnets given by another friend, Gracey Corpuz, I thought of making a surfboard-clothes-line type of photo display hanger where we can clip our printed pictures on the wall. ☺

I made use of the rasta-colored yarns so our surfboard-clothes-line-photo-display would meaningfully portray the gospel: Heaven, Sin, Blood of Jesus, Salvation and Eternal Life ♥

Making A Difference Thru COLORS

I was not supposed to write about anything yet until I get to finish my blog about my wedding but something wonderful happened to me today and in a snap, my heart was ignited once again by God and I just can’t help but share what it’s all about. ☺

So today I was watching my husband play football while I was also taking care of Chico (our baby boy Shih Tzu) when I saw a group of kids around10-12 steps away from my left. They were also watching the game at the field when I asked them where they’re from. While looking at them as they watched the game, an idea snapped in my head like a “Eureka”, accompanied by an authoritative voice in my heart saying “This is one of the things that I called you to live for.”

I remembered our couple counselor leader, Tito Joel Alimon, when he shared with us last week about how he tries to share the good news and the best story of all time in the most uncommon place with people whom he thinks and feels need it the most. He shared with us that during one of his regular golf time with friends, a heavy rain suddenly poured from the sky and they were forced to settle and wait at a snack bar/area in the middle of the field while around 30 caddies parked their golf carts around the bathroom/restroom area and settled there as well as they waited for the rain to stop. As a follower of Christ, Tito Joel couldn’t help but went to the restroom as he asked for guidance from God. He thought that the situation was a very good opportunity for him to share the gospel and tell 30 caddies about how we can be truly rich in life without money, cars, luxury and all. His story went on but what Tito Joel doesn’t know is how he inspired me as he was telling his story. He made me remember to make the most of each and every moment that we’re provided with to make a difference and share God’s love… even in the most unexpected place in a very unexpected time. He made me realize that if we’re still waiting for that unexpected moment to come to us, it will never come. Because as followers of Christ, our roles were made very clear on the bible. The awakening truth is that those miraculous moments might not come to us because we might be the ones who will make and give those moments to other people. Serve God first. Others second. Think of ourselves the least.

So given these random thoughts in my head with a strong voice in my heart while watching a group of kids watch the football game of my husband, I attempted twice to call the kids and tell them God’s story. During the first attempt, the kids suddenly ran to drink water. The second attempt was when the kids were already rushing toward the field to have their own football time. I did not give up on the idea and will not give up on my promise but at that time, I honestly gave up on the chance given to me. As I watched my husband walked towards me after his football game, the moment taught me another thing and gave me another random idea.

My husband and I went to the mall, Market Market, after his game to check out some stuff we still need at home. As we entered the mall, the first things I wanted to get were yarn bracelets with colors Yellow, Black, Red, White and Green. I’ll tell you later why but they sound like Bob Marley “Rasta” colors right? Which actually made me think as well that maybe behind Bob Marley’s face and deep in his heart, his famous colors really meant the gospel and God’s story. Just maybe. ☺

So I was looking for rasta yarn bracelets and wanted to buy in bulk. I wanted these bracelets to replace the biscuits and juice that I used to buy in bulk and give to street kids whenever I’m in the car and stuck in traffic. I wanted these bracelets to be my weapon wherever I go if I get another chance and opportunity to share God’s love to children and adults. In this way, I can definitely get their attention, keep the important things I should say in a structured manner in my head using colors as my guide. You see I was able to experience first hand how to be taught and how to teach the gospel thru colors 4 months ago with the help of our church, CCF Makati. We were on a “Love Moves” month in February 2012 and the church was actively doing charity movements for the whole month to share God’s love. Me and my husband were so blessed to be a part of it and were able to share the gospel for the first time using colored yarn bracelets as well to groups of people in Makati. We learned about Heaven (YELLOW), Sin (BLACK), Blood of Christ or His Love/Sacrifice for us (RED), Salvation and Forgiveness of Sins (WHITE), Eternal Life (GREEN). These were accompanied by bible verses as well so we know where to refer to. If you’d like to know more about this, I was able to find a site that would help you understand this better. ☺

After almost 30 minutes of looking for rasta yarn bracelets, I decided to buy the raw materials and make my own gospel bracelets for my mission.

YELLOW, BLACK, RED, WHITE AND GREEN YARNS

I made my own ring first made of the yarns I bought as a symbol of my commitment to God to make a difference every moment or chance I get to share about His love for each and everyone of us. ♥

Now I have to finish off the yarns I bought and make gospel bracelets as many as possible for the world. ☺
